ISD DUNAFERR Zrt. produces blast furnace slag and converter slag as a result of its metallurgical activity. The slags are processed by Ferromark-Halna Kft. in accordance with EU standards, based on the ISD DUNAFERR quality control audit. Since 2015, metallurgical slags have been sold by Ferromark-Kereskedelmi Kft..
The mechanical properties of slags are very good. These are artificial rocks with the same uses as natural rocks. They are solid in structure, high in strength, and resistant to abrasion. Their use not only not degrades, but can improve the quality and durability of motorways and other construction products. Slag can be used to replace some of the mining of natural rocks, so there is no need to consider the landscape and environmental degradation effects associated with rock extraction.
Due to their properties, metallurgical slags are well suited for the following purposes: construction, roadworks, asphalt production, concrete production, railway beddings, agricultural soil improvement, water construction, recultivation, dam construction, thermal insulation material production (rock wool), insulating material production, geopolymer production, waste water treatment, recycling into technological processes.
